Samsung P2 8 GB Touchscreen Bluetooth Portable Media Player (Black) Review

Samsung P2 8 GB Touchscreen Bluetooth Portable Media Player (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Aesthetically, this is a really nice product from Samsung. The player is quite sleek, with nice rounded edges, a decent weight, and sharp piano black gloss finish. The sound quality is superb. I didn't get the same battery life the manufacturer did (they rate 30 hours, I probably average 20), but I would bet that's because I use the touchscreen interface more than their battery testers did.
As for the touchscreen, I have to admit it's pretty nice. I prefer tactile use, so I'm more of a fan of buttons than touchscreens, but Samsung has done a nice job executing this one. There are a couple of odd quirks to the touchscreen. For example, when you "swipe" the touchscreen to advance you have to swipe from right to left, which seems counterintuitive since you are advancing the progress bar from left to right. Obviously, the same is true of swiping to back up, where you swipe from left to right, even though you're going back on the progress bar.
Also, in the default menu setting, you make circular gestures on the touchscreen to advance through the menu. Neat? yes. Functional? not really. The biggest problem I had with this is that my thumb kept obscuring the icons as they moved into view. Ultimately, I found this too annoying and I disabled it in favor of a regular grid menu. Not as cool to show your friends, but much more functional.
The audio player functions are top notch. As a caveat to this, I will say that I could not get this to sync with Winamp 5.5. My Winamp crashed every time I loaded it when the P2 was plugged in. Instead, I did my syncing through Windows Media Player, and it worked fine. It synced playlists perfectly, and did a great job recognizing albums when I copied them directly like a mass storage device. The on-board player functions include a customizable EQ with quite a few presets and a clarity adjuster. There are preset visualizations including a couple of light shows (that do not track the music), album art, track info, and a spectrum analyzer.
The video player is pretty good, but I don't really like watching video on such a small screen anyway. I'm not a big fan of the fact that you have to convert through Samsung's software to get it to run, but I guess that's the case with most MP3/video players. The widescreen playback is properly formated. FM reception is satisfactory. Not sure how the eReader works since I don't have any ebooks for it, but you can see test screens of it.
This is, overall, a good MP3 player, even if it is a bit pricey. It is only $50 cheaper than the iTouch, but it also brings in an FM radio tuner and bluetooth support for up to two bluetooth devices--including a pass-thru for your cellphone to a set of bluetooth stereo headphones like the non-US release Samsung T9. Bluetooth is a great feature if you've got bluetooth headsets, speakers, or car radio. So you're getting more features than the iTouch offers. A major downside for me is the fact that it is primarily touchscreen-only (there are hard buttons on the side: on the left a lock button and a play/pause/power button; on the right, two volume buttons). Since I tend to like to keep my mp3 in my pocket, I prefer to have tactile skip buttons as well.
Samsung has made some great strides with their feature packed MP3 players. And while this one was almost perfect for me, it fell short of the mark only in the somewhat high price tag and the lack of hard skip buttons. I give them kudos, however, for having hard play/pause/power and volume buttons (FYI, play/pause and volume can also be controlled via the touchscreen).

Crimestopper SP-300 2-Way FM LCD Pager Car Alarm with Keyless Entry and Engine Disable Review

Crimestopper SP-300 2-Way FM LCD Pager Car Alarm with Keyless Entry and Engine Disable
Average Reviews:

alarm does everything it suppose to do. alarm is very loud when it goes off when opening the car door while the car is armed. my favorite part is that theres no way to turn on the car if the car is still armed so if someone tries to break in theres still no way they can move the vehicle. theres a small alarm that goes of for like a second in case someone bumps to it but it also works if someone is probably trying to use a slim jim or whatever you call it. then theres the bigger alarm that goes off for about 45 seconds incase something really hits the car or if someone breaks your window. those alarms that go off are shown at the same time on your car alarm control, when its a small alarm it indicates a hammer, chirps twice, vibrates and red light blinks, when its a big hit the hammer moves, chirps for the 45 seconds i believe, vibrates and red light blink. when someone actually opens the car (while armed)the alarm control will actually show something that looks like lights under the red car and im not sure yet if it will go on forever or just those 45 sec. overall its great. you can actually also have your trunk door auto open when u push the button on the control but i dont have that and you can also make the doors auto lock but of course that is extra

StarTech USB to Stereo Audio Adapter Converter Sound Cards ICUSBAUDIO Review

StarTech USB to Stereo Audio Adapter Converter Sound Cards ICUSBAUDIO
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this item after reading the reviews, hoping that the sound output would be better than those chinese $4 devices you can find anywhere with shipping included. my suspicion now is that this item is in fact that same device in a different plastic case (which by the way is not a quality case either).
the output sound quality is horrendous, lacking definition and response in the high end of the spectrum. no amount of fiddling with software or external EQs can rescue the sound to an acceptable quality level. also, when wave and mixer volumes are maxed out (the default setting) the device saturates horribly.
I'm not an audiophile but I have good hearing and pay attention to detail. the device delivers unacceptable performance for music playback (including movie viewing IMHO) but could be used for voice or game sound effects. or for any use if you have a dirt-cheap speaker system.
I haven't tested the input.
also note that I got this item in black, not white as shown.

DLO VentMount Kickstand Case for iPod Touch (Black) Review

DLO VentMount Kickstand Case for iPod Touch (Black)

I like the unit, if you don't have any other mounting options it works well and you can rotate from portrait to landscape mode. Also, I wasn't sure if this would fit with the new 2nd gen iPod Touch because they are slightly different, but it fits like a glove. I've gone over quite a few big bumps and everything stays in place.

Chamberlain CLDM1 Clicker Garage Door Monitor Review

Chamberlain CLDM1 Clicker Garage Door Monitor
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
It isn't the most robust device, but it was worth the money spent on it. The sensor attaches to the garage door with sticky back velcro. This makes it easy to remove to change the battery. I put it on the top of the door, so it will indicate open as soon as possible. Range seems sufficient. The only unknown is how long the transmitter battery will last. It uses a nickel sized lithium cell.
Update 2006-10-25: I still don't know about the longevity of the transmitter battery (still going strong), but I have loved this unit for the past few months. It has become a little "confused" two times over the last 6 months. It would indicate open, when the garage wasn't. I unplugged the base unit and immediately plugged it in and all was fine. I would purchase this again and wish I had done so sooner.

Sometimes you just forget to close the garage door. But if "sometimes" is closer to "usually" for you, you may run the risk of having your garage emptied out by opportunistic passers-by, and you will certainly pay more to heat your house. Chamberlain's Clicker Garage Door Monitor helps you minimize the likelihood that you'll leave the biggest door in your house open. The device mounts easily without tools to your garage door via a Velcro strip; if your door is open, the sensor sends a signal to the monitor, causing a red light to flash. The monitor may be plugged in anywhere in your house where you're likely to notice the flashing light. Depending on your garage-door habits, this device could help prevent theft and lower your heating bills. Includes lithium battery.--Josh Dettweiler

USA SPEC PA11-CHR - iPod in-vehicle interface adapter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Installed in 45 minutes in my 2006 Jeep Liberty. Sounds great well worth the investment. Some pointers :
1) Does not come with instructions on how to remove the factory radio unit. Look in youtube for a short video clip
2) You do not need to buy the plastic wedge tools like I did. Use a plastic knife or be gently with your screwdriver to pry the console unit. (step 2 after remove screw in youtube video)
3) You must put car shifter away from console (park) in order to have room to have work with. Put on parking brake.
4) When removing screws holding radio, make sure you hold on to them while uncrewing otherwise they will fall down and be lost inside console.
5) You will not be able to pull out radio far enough to see back of unit. Feel with your finger where the hole to plug in and try before you know which way plug is up or down
6) I routed the usa-spec wire on the right with the other factory wires to reach the glove compartment.

SanDisk Sansa m230 512 MB MP3 Player (Blue) Review

SanDisk Sansa m230 512 MB MP3 Player (Blue)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Alright, so mp3 players, yeah there's so many to choose from, it gets really annoyin, especially when all of your trendy friends are telling you to get an ipod. Don't get me wrong, ipods are great, i have one in fact, and i love it. But i rollerblade (not recreational, like the kind where you go to skateparks and grind handrails and various other things). So the the ipod's size makes it more prone to be broken, which is why I love this thing. I'm going to skip all the candy coating and get straight to the tootsie roll filling:
pros:
-Most other mp3 players are a little bit thinner, but the sansa has a flat control panel and the back is round to fit in your hand, i know, i know, you're going to put it in your pocket, well just put the interface on the inside of the pocket and none of the buttons have a chance of breaking, or the screen.
-The sansa has an extremely long battery life for one little AAA, around 20 hours, which is awesome since i hate buying batteries, but that's not a problem because i have rechargable AAA, but it's gets extremely aggrivating having to recharge batteries everytime you go out.
- The buttons are perfect, they're big, they're bold, what more do you want, and i noticed most mp3 players put these tiny little pin size buttons on their players, what's the point of that.
-The menu is really straightforward and simple. You just press the menu button on top of the player, and then use the 4 buttons (play/pause, previous track, next track, and stop) as the directional buttons on the menu.
-I used to have the older version of the sandisk mp3 players (256mb) and it was never loud enough, like i would be on the bus or in a busy area and not even be able to hear my music! Thankfully they enabled it to become louder and have a better sound quality.
-It's very inexpensive, i payed 40$ for mine from a seller on amazon. And that's about how much it goes for retail everywhere else.
Cons:
-The only problem i have is that the earbuds that they come with aren't the best in the world, but i still use them, they're the only earbuds i have ever found that have fit my ears without a 2 billion dollar price tag. Or i would get new ones.
-The fm tuner that comes with this is junk, i get a good signal every once in a while, but it really shouldn't be used as a marketing gimmick, considering most flash mp3 players have one now.
Ok, well thanks for reading my review of the sandisk sansa 512mb. I forgot to mention that it has a decent voice recorder for notes and such, but i always have mine filled to the the rim with music, so i've never really had the oppurtunity to really try it out.

Samsung YP-X5X NeXus 25 XM Ready Digital Audio Player with 25-hour Playback Review

Samsung YP-X5X NeXus 25 XM Ready Digital Audio Player with 25-hour Playback
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I spent a couple months looking at portable XM radios in search of one to meet my needs. I eventually chose this device and I've been more than happy with my decision.
My needs were fairly simple. I needed to be able to listen to new music daily from within the concrete installation that is my workplace, and be capable of delivering it for the duration of my day. I also wanted to listen to it in my car or through a stereo. I had no interest in playing MP3, nor did I care about online functionality or interface with my computer. The NeXus has met every one of my requirements(with the purchase of the car/FM transmitter), and has done so exceptionally.
The radio will only play live XM when it's in the cradle. This seemed strange at first, but made sense as I got familiar with XM and it's capabilities. The decoder is separate from the radio(likely to keep the radio itself small), which I imagine is needed to recieve the signal. You must plug the decoder into the cradle along with the radio to play live XM. Also due to the relative weakness of the XM signal, the antenna needs to be long. These factors are likely the reason for only having recorded content on the go.
The menus on the device are fairly intuitive, though not entirely elegant. You can navigate by artist, by recording session, or with a flat list of songs for your recorded content. Live XM will allow you to navigate through stations naturally. There is also additional functionality that I have yet to use that seems to allow you to keep an eye out for certain artists. Navigation from the device is fairly simple, using the arrows on the face to move around, and the middle XM button to select. The remote is more robust in functionality, but is less intuitive in spots. The remote is also fairly weak, and the display on the radio itself is small. This limits the distance you can be from the radio when using it and making the remote a little on the useless side.
Battery life for the radio is very good, and has performed better than advertised for me. I get over 8 hours of continuous play from a full charge. I haven't run the battery completely dead yet, but it lasts my entire work day and still has a bar or two left when I plug it into the cradle in my car on my way home. Charging time seems to be very quick as well.
Storage is very good, though it doesn't sound impressive with only 512MB. You can partition the drive into 50% MP3 and 50% XM or 100% XM. I have opted for 100% XM, as I am sick of my MP3 collection. I currently have over 200 songs on my XM player, 8 of which are 30 minute segments, and one which plays slightly over an hour and a half. Assuming the average track is 4 minutes, that puts my current load at about 17 - 18 hours of recorded content.
The device itself is put together well. It small enough to fit in the palm of my hand, and is about a half an inch thick. That makes it about the size of your average flip phone - which is easily pocketable. The earbuds that come with it are not good quality, and are uncomfortable. I already had a pair of higher quality earbuds that replaced those. The music quality is decent. I'm no audiophile, so if it doesn't sound crunchy, or like it's playing in a can I'm happy. The other pieces like the audio cables and the carrying clip thing are of average to below average quality, but get the job done.
All in all I'm totally satisfied with the NeXus 25, and have recommended it to friends who are in the market for a portable XM radio.

Headphones work great if you need them to just listen to stuff at the office or whatever. The price and the fact that they're wireless make them a very good product. Also, they are not completley ear covering so you can hear stuff around you if need be. Only drawback, the distance is not very far, and transmissions through walls get stopped pretty easily. Kidz Gear Wireless Car Headphones For Kids Review

Kidz Gear Wireless Car Headphones For Kids
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just received my headphones and used them for a trip to Disneyland. They are awesome and my kids loved them!! I disagree with the comment about the OEM headphones. Our headphones that came with the car are not as comfortable for the kids and it is coming apart. The Kidz Gear headphones are great cause they have a softer lining around the ears that probably won't come apart like the cheap foam things that are around the headphones we have now.
The sound quality was very good. I tried them out myself. I like how they fit, even for an adult. They are very comfortable and sleek looking. My kids would fight over who got to wear the Kidz Gear headphones over the ones that came in the car.
The customer service at Kidz Gear is also very good. I had a question for them on how to use the headphones at home with our TV. They were so helpful and explained things in a way that a non-tech person could understand. It is hard to find great customer service these days and I was very impressed with them. They were awesome!
I would highly recommend these headphones to kids and adults to use. They are so comfortable and I like how they turn themselves off after a while to keep the battery life. Our headphones that came with the car doesn't have this feature. You don't even know how many times we've not had headphones to use cause the battery has run out.
I WOULD RATE THIS PRODUCT 5 STARS!

This item was purchased several weeks ago for the new home theater system also recently purchased. It works great, the surround sound is just as great as the non-wireless alternatives. There is no delay in the sound transmission and it is very nice not to have to worry about all the wires. Definately worth the price and the 2 days it took for shipping. *UPDATE* May 19, 2011
I've had this TV for over a month now, and just wanted to provide an update:
Picture: CUSTOM SETTINGS! Out-of-the-box, the picture isn't the best quality. There is some graininess, a noticeable soap opera effect and some blockiness with moving pictures. EVERY owner should calibrate the settings to their liking. Also, it's very important to turn off the ECO sensor -- your TV will be much, much brighter. I followed the custom settings on flatpanelshd.com, where the reviewer tweaked the settings for best picture output, down to advanced settings like B-Gain and R-Gain. From there I messed around with the other settings until I found a picture I'm very happy with.
Comparison: Two of my friends bought a 55-inch LG LW5600 and I've spent a good time watching their TVs. The LG uses passive 3D so the glasses are super cheap and comfortable -- I hate to say it, but the 3D on that TV probably looks better overall. They also brag about an 8 million to 1 contrast ratio whereas the Sony EX720 is 2 million to 1. What that means is the LG has a brighter range of vivid colors. BUT after tweaking my settings, I was able to get comparable color results AND the picture on the Sony is noticeably clearer -- you couldn't get a soap opera effect on the LG if you tried. The MotionFlow 240 actually seems to make a difference as I can see wrinkles on The Most Interesting Man in the World's face that I couldn't see on the LG. Plus the LG had a lot of choppiness when watching sports, it might have been the cable or the TV's 120hz processor.
Still a five-star rating for a clearer picture than the LG and enhanced picture with tweaked settings. Original review below.
*From April*
Picture: Very good. Granted I was watching a 37-inch LCD that was almost six years old, so even watching a crayon drawing on wax paper would be an upgrade. But I watched ESPN HD, Avatar HD in HBO and a bunch of other random things. There was no noticeable clouding (blobs of light on the screen) at all. I was pleasantly surprised that there really wasn't a soap opera effect on the movies and shows I watched.
More Picture: It's true that this isn't a "true" 240hz TV. It's marketed as a MotionFlow 240hz, which basically means that it's 120hz but has some sort of technology that Sony made up to "bring the frame rate up to 240hz." That being said, I probably wouldn't be able to notice the difference between 120 and 240hz anyway. I do wish the picture was a little bit brighter, but it's super easy to adjust the settings. Also, the black levels weren't as black as I'd like. When watching a show with a lot of black screen, it still looks a little gray compared to the black frame lining the TV.
Sound: GREAT. You know how sometimes you're watching a DVD or a TV show and the music and background noises are super loud and the voices and dialogue are super quiet, and then you have to turn up the volume to hear the dialogue, but then quickly turn it back down because some booming music scares the crap out of you? Not so with this TV. Apparently it's got some technology that detects dialog and will automatically soften the background sound and amplify the voices. Plus, when you change the sound setting to "S-Force Front Surround," there really is a noticeable difference in the quality, the sound does seem to echo more under this setting.
3D: Suh-weeeeet! Ok, there are definite cross-talk issues -- which is a term I learned by reading a bunch of reviews. You will see double images at certain points, but EVERY TV review I read suffers from this issue because it's a new technology. My DirecTV offered four 3D channels, one was a nature show channel that rotates shows about dinosaurs, ocean life, and space stuff. I spent four hours straight watching this channel and now know a bunch of random facts about dinosaurs, ocean life and space stuff. I invited three people over and the four of us watched this channel for hours. There were parts of the ocean documentary where schools of fish looked like they were a few feet out of the screen. And a freaking Brontosaurus totally peered into my living room -- I wanted to pet him. Even on large landscape pans, the depth perception was amazing.
Remote: Effin' BRILLIANT. I don't know why, but instantaneous response from the remote made me pretty damn happy. I had Time Warner Cable TV before, and it would do some crap where you'd be pressing the remote buttons and nothing would happen, and then like 15 seconds later everything you pushed would happen at once. DirecTV is better but would still lag sometimes. But this TV and it's default remote are like sweet lovers that orgasm at the same time. There is no lag time and the interface screen is ridiculously simple to use and navigate -- even for not-really-super-techy-guys.
Interface and Settings: Awesome. Navigating the settings is intuitive and simple -- it looks a lot like the PS3 interface. Everything's is laid out in Layman's terms and spelled out so clearly that even A GIRL would have no problems using it. There's even little features like naming the different display inputs AND ADDING AN ICON TO THEM?? So now when I change Display modes between DVD, DirecTV and Xbox, it very coolly displays those titles on the screen, AND HAS THE ICON I PICKED NEXT TO THEM! W00T! And changing the settings is cake. You can go directly into many of the main settings (like display, sound, etc) directly from the show you're watching instead of going into the menu.
Wireless and Internet Apps: This does NOT come in with built-in WiFi, but I plugged it directly into my router with a network cable. Done dada. I was getting good connection speeds with Youtube, Qriocity and Hulu. My only complaint is that it probably takes a little getting used to spell anything out -- kind of a weird alphanumeric style that you'd get when you spell something out using a numeric phone keypad.

Creative ZEN Vision:M 30 GB MP3 and Video Player (Black) Review

Creative ZEN Vision:M 30 GB MP3 and Video Player (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've had my Zen M for about 2 months now so I think I have a good feel for what it's pros and cons are. Here you go:
Pros: Beautiful and Bright Screen (displays thousands of more colors than the Ipod video by the way). Even at 50% brightness (which is default setting out of the box) it looks bright!
Ability to Customize most of the features. This includes being able to set your own photos for the wallpaper, custom equilizer, custom brightnes setting, custom shortcut button, organization of folders(audio, photo, video folders)...etc.
Great Sound! This isn't a surprise because Creative develops sound hardware/software like soundcards.
Good User Interface: The thumb scroller interface takes a few days to get used to, then it's pretty user friendly. You can customize the sensitivity of it too.
Ability to play lots of different video files like Divx and Mpg4.
This was a big selling point for me. The screen is perfect for watching cartoons and anime on.
Good Size. I'm refering to it's physical size. It's actually the perfect size and feels great in your hand. Still pocketable and still feels rock solid and not fragile.
Displays Album cover art! I had trouble with this function in the beginning only because in order to get it to display the album art correctly, you need to rip the Cd album with a program that automatically downloads album info including art. One program that does this is Windows Media Player.
--For the techies that don't want to re-rip everything to get the album art to display, just download a small jpeg image of the album cover that is about 150 by 150 pixels, rename it folder.jpg, make it a hidden file and place it in the folder of the correct album. When you move it to your player it will ask you whether you want to move it to the photo folder, make sure you select "no" and leave it where it is.
Cons: There isn't a lot about this player that is negative. But one aspect which is really annoying is that to charge it or plug it to the computer you have to use this tiny seperate adapter that comes in the box. It's the white adapter/attachment that looks like a dock connector. What the heck were they thinking! I have to carry the separate item everywhere I go just in case I need to charge it or upload music. It sucks man! Why the heck didn't they just build all of the ports into the player itself!!
Also, they should've included the video output cable instead of selling it separately! Or at least made it use a standard video cable! Also, the battery is not removable... at least not meant to be.
These are the only reasons why I gave this player 4 out of 5 stars. Otherwise I would have given 5 out of 5! All in All this player really rocks and is worth every penny! ... and is a much better buy then the "other" competition out there.
Hope this is helpful to you guys. If it is, please give me a vote. Thanks!

10 ft. Visible 3 Eye Ir Emitter Extender Cable by Infrared Resources Review

Works as advertised. The three eye cable works well with the URC MSC-400. The output levels are about the same as the two eye this cable replaced. The "stickiness" of the eyes is excellent with none of them falling off. Only thing slightly different is that the visible flash (not the IR flash) is very slightly dimmer than the two eye it replaced. Actually I kind of like that.

Scosche RF Remote Control for iPod classic 5G, 5.5G (Black) Review

Scosche RF Remote Control for iPod classic 5G, 5.5G (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this remote for my Ipod Video (30GB). When I first took it out of the box, I was very happy, its color is the same as my iPod (black) and it also has the same width.
The unit fits OK with the iPod and the remote control is small and cool, but I found some flaws:
1. The unit easily disconnects if you maneuver the iPod in the car, for example, and I don't mean a drastic movement.
2. The remote control, it says up to 150ft.... yeah right, that is NOT true, even within the car (I have a small car) if you don't point the remote directly to the unit, it won't work. It also is kind of slow when you push the button to change a song and when the iPod actually change it.
The reason I rate this with 2 stars is because the unit, when it works, takes away that uncomfortable task to change the song by touching the iPod itself.

Creative D200 Wireless Bluetooth Speaker Review

Creative D200 Wireless Bluetooth Speaker
Average Reviews:

Absolutely love this speaker. Incredible sound, especially at the price. I tested the D100's and found them not to handle all types of music well but the D200 handles anything I throw at it. Sounds almost as good as my home theater set up. Handles, highs, lows, and mids equally well. Very easy to connect. Hasn't lost signal for me yet. Highly recommend.

Direct Audio Input From iPod Dock Connector to Alpine M-Bus CD Changer Input Review

Direct Audio Input From iPod Dock Connector to Alpine M-Bus CD Changer Input
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This works great for connecting iPod to older Alpine car stereos with CD-changer aux input. Only thing needed and sound quality is phenomenal. It also charges the iPod automatically but this will decrease the battery life. I actually left the red power supply wire disconnected so it would not charge the iPod battery then eventually hooked it up using a $5 on/off wire harness from a hardware store so I could charge it in the car if needed although I haven't needed to do this yet.
P.S. Be sure to hook up the ground wire.
