I used this wireless microphone system once.... Then it broke. I don't know how, but it would not work the second time I tried to use it. What a waste of money.

Magellan Maestro 4370 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator Review

Magellan Maestro 4370 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have had so many portable GPS units, it's not funny. I've had one of the first Tom Tom and about eight or nine others including Pharos, Garmin, Nokia, and several lesser brands.
These boasted of being accurate, having media players, blue-tooth, fm transmitters, etc.
My recent gps was a Nokia. Who knew they made one. Big mistake buying it. The blue-tooth was terrible at best. Part of this being the speaker. The fm transmitter was absolute garbage. It did a terrible job putting it on any channel. The media player was a joke. The USB connector for the power had five metal prongs, bare prongs. Everyone else has them mounted on something so that one of the prongs won't get bent like mine did. Not worth fixing since it wasn't considered a defect.
Some of the other units I've had had had poor mounting systems that allowed the unit to bounce or was a pain to have to re-mount if I moved it from one vehicle to another. Most have stupid gooseneck mounts, which you can never seem to position correctly and which bounce slightly when you drive. Some used a proprietary charger. Most came with just one charger and no case.
Some of the units had poor graphics or too much on the screen. Most you have to manually turn on and off in the car. Some had the software on a SD card. If you wanted to put music on it, you needed a new and bigger SD card and you had to move the software over to the new card.
Anyway, the best piece of advice I can give anyone is to buy a GPS at a store where you can return it, even if you have to pay a 15% restocking fee. The Nokia I bought recently was a POS but because I bought it online, I could not return it. If I had bought it at, say Best Buy, I could have returned it, even if it meant paying $20 - $25. I wouldn't have been stuck with it.
Now on to this Magellan, the 4370, which is a newer model of the 4350. First of all, Best Buy had it on sale for $149, which was a great price. I bought it knowing that I would have no issues paying 15% of the price for re-stocking if I didn't like it.
The bad (cons) first:
1. Doesn't show your speed.
2. Weird location for the plugs; there are two. One for the headset which doubles as the antenna port and the USB port for charging/power. They are on the right side of the unit with the headset port above the USB port. The USB cable is angled to the bottom so it points to the front windshield.
3. Included case is a POS. It's not an enclosed case for one thing.
Now all the good stuff (pros). Pay attention because this is important stuff most of you have no idea of.
1. Great graphics or at least very clear because of the higher resolution screen.
2. Easy mount to use since it's basic. The suction cup is small but holds this thing really well on the dash. By the way, for you folks in California, the law is that you have to mount this puppy on the lower left area of the front windshield. Don't mount it in the middle of the front windshield or anywhere where it can interfere with the driver's view to the front. The mount is firm but again, can be positioned easily. Plus the pivot points have teeth so once you tighten the mount, it will not move at all.
3. Great price at Best Buy. (That was important to me, although even at full price it was nice.)
4. Comes with home and car chargers.
5. The software is stored internally so the SD slot is available for all the pics and music you can store on an SD card. I have an 8GB card with lots of music and lots of pictures.
6. You can play music and still navigate or play pics and listen to the turn-by-turn directions or turn the music off.
7. The FM transmitter works well, even on strong signal stations.
8. Blue-tooth is good and even does texting on the GPS screen. I have never heard of that.
9. Volume is loud and you can change the voices (different races and gender).
10. This is a big one for me. TURNS ON AND OFF by itself in the car if you use the cigarette/car adapter. No more having to turn it on or off manually.
11. The satellites are picked up very fast.
12. The names of the streets are pronounced.
13. Comes with a case. It's not very good but good enough to put in your glove compartment.
14. Easy menu to use.
15. Tells you what path to take when the road forks before you get there.
16. Bright screen during the day and changes to a screen that is easy to see at night.
17. Lots of options for use, including the ability to immediately see where you are using GPS coordinates.
18. AAA Roadside and other AAA information readily available.
19. Once you get to your destination, it tells you that you are there and it's done. Some GPS units start telling you to turn around right away.
So far, I think this is the best GPS that I've had, especially the graphics. Hope this helps.

Rio Carbon 5 GB MP3 Player Review

Rio Carbon 5 GB MP3 Player
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
General thoughts about Music Playback:
It's great at its main purpose, playing music. The Rio Carbon is small and incredibly lightweight so carrying it in your jean pocket, jacket pocket, tight jeans' pocket, etc... is easy and comfortable. The metal back scratches a little too easily but that is something you have to expect with this kind of shiny surface. Just love the battery life for playing music (not recording! - see below). The way the music files are organized requires me to really use playlists. Otherwise, I'll often play the same album 20 times in a row. Shuffle could be a little bit more random but really can't complain. I mainly bought this device because of its potential for super multi-tasking so I'll leave the music playback comments to other reviewers.
As a Portable Hard Drive:
I've used it to replace my USB memory drives (since I either lose them or they stop working after 6 months) and it interfaces seamlessly with the computers I use (mainly Win XP). Like all multi-GB HDDs, it takes awhile to scan the files when you first plug it in. Unfortunately, you can't download the Win 98 drivers from the Rio website. For those who use Win 98 computers occasionally, this means that you'll either need to carry the Rio CD around with you or put the drivers online (i.e. in an email account). Overall, the concept of using this as a cheap portable small harddrive that just happens to be an mp3 player is very appealing to a student like me. You get slightly less than 5Gb so it's possible to allot one entire gigabyte to files while saving the other 3.7GB to music. It's about the size of 3 Sandisk Cruzer Mini USB drives laid parallel to each other, but it can hold a billion more files (slight exaggeration)!
As an Audible player:
Unlike the review below, I've had very little to no problems listening to Audible tracks on the player. I've used an old iPod and a Treo 600 with the Audible Manager software before so I know that juggling extra Audible devices is confusing but definitely possible. I've heard that Rio Carbon only accepts Audible formats 2 and 3. Audible always requires that you download drivers for (or "Activate") any new device/player you add onto your account. My experience is that downloading a 46MB Audible format 3 file takes me about 10-15 minutes. Copying onto the Carbon takes me 5 minutes via USB 2.0. Maybe this varies with Carbons and/or software but personally, I really appreciate the ease and integration between Audible and Rio Carbon. (My old 2nd gen iPod had problems but that was probably because I got it secondhand and the previous user was also an Audible user. Songs can be transferred but couldn't be played.)
As a voice recorder:
I had such high ambitions for this device to be used to record lectures. Sigh... the whirring of the hard drive, the orientation of the built-in mic (perpendicular from the face of the Carbon)... all this really hinders any kind of comprehensible recordings you have when you sit more than 4 rows away from the front of the class. No wonder Rio specified the voice recordings for reminders and such. I was able to listen to the muffled and noisy recordings by fiddling with the equalizer in windows media player 9 (without needing to find a noise reduction software) so maybe it's still possible to use this as a lecture recorder. Turning down 32 - 125 Hz on the Graphic Equalizer in WMP9 pretty much cuts out the whirring hard drive noise. Recording format is .wav and a 1 hour lecture is 12.2Mb at 32kbps. The Carbon heats up slightly during recording. Also, recording eats up batteries. The battery barely made it while recording for 2.5 hours (plus about 30 minutes of listening to music). If you have a laptop, you can easily charge it inbetween classes really quickly.

Philips DC910/37 Shelf Bar 30-Watt Audio System with iPod Dock (Black) Review

Philips DC910/37 Shelf Bar 30-Watt Audio System with iPod Dock (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The quality of the audio is considerably below higher end iPod Docks, but it's passable for a dorm room kind of setting. The sound is very compressed and does a decent job in the vocal frequencies and not a heck of a whole lot else. That said, the sound is better than you get with your typical Sony/iHome alarm clock iPod docks and it isn't a whole lot bigger. It also can be louder than those docks.
The ability to load in a SD card or Flash card for music is a nice feature that makes this audio system quite versatile. The remote is easy to use and fairly intuitive. Yes, you can rotate your iPod and watch TV shows and movies, but honestly, who wants to watch TV on such a tiny screen unless you're on a plane (in which case, you'd be using earphones).
The build on this unit is not particularly impressive and I'm guessing that it won't last more than three years. Then again, I won't have my iPod touch at that time either and will have moved onto something new.
If you can get this thing for less than 100 bucks, it's worth it. More than that, and you probably can do better with another dock.

Plenio VXA-3000 7-inch Portable GPS Navigator Review

Plenio VXA-3000 7-inch Portable GPS Navigator
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Some of the cons are bad user manual. It says charge the unit even though there is no internal battery. It has USB ports but no usb cable. There is charger for car but no power adapter if you need to take it home or so. I wish it came with at least those 2 accessories when you are paying 500 for this baby.
However, the gps itself is really great. Inserted the sd card, plugged in the car charger and the unit was ON. It picked up signal immediately. 7 in screen is really great. Tried few addresses and got voice guided directions immediately. Even tried nearest gas station which worked nice. Took some wrong turns and it recalcuated new route instantly.
I think it would be a great buy if you are looking nice GPS. I haven't exercised other features such as mp3 or video but I am really not intersted in them.

TEN Technology naviPlay Bluetooth Stereo Adapter for iPod Review

TEN Technology naviPlay Bluetooth Stereo Adapter for iPod
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I use this with a 30gb video ipod, and the S9 by Motorolla. The sound is much better then expected. It does cut out when in very busy places, like the train station, also there is no case in existance that will hold this with the adapter on it.
The built in stand is pretty sweet for desktop use.
The biggest issue is that the directions don't tell you how to actually pair this item with a headset. I will tell you here...
Press and hold the power button of the Adapter for at least 8 seconds (may take up to 15 seconds) continuously. While you are holding the power button down the LED indicator will first flash green only (start up mode), then flash green and amber alternating slowly (successful startup), and finally change to a rapid alternating green and amber: the Adapter is now in Pairing Mode. When you see the LED switch to Pairing Mode, the power button can be released and the unit should stay in Pairing Mode with the LED continuing to quickly flash alternating green and amber (the flashing cycle time should be less than a second). The Adapter will stay in this mode waiting for you to put the Headset into pairing mode as well for about 3 minutes.

McMurdo Fastfind 406 PLB Review

McMurdo Fastfind 406 PLB
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is NOT the latest and greatest PLB (Personal Locator Beacon), but it has its place. If you've shopped 406 MHz beacons you know this is WAY cheaper than most others. And there are reasons for that:
1.) No built-in GPS. That means that rescuers will have to locate you using the satellite system's doppler location capability, which is considerably less accurate and much slower to derive a location (could be hours, rather than minutes). But, they should still find you.
2.) An old, bulky and generally "hinky" mechanical construction. If you accidentally deploy the antenna, it is very hard to repack, and damage to the antenna or case are likely. There is a trick to doing it that the importer (Revere) knows, so it can be done, but will require a call to them, or sending it in. When replacing the battery, extreme care is needed to avoid overtightening the case screw. They specify a torque setting in inch-pounds, exceed it and you crack the case, which ruins the water-proof/submersion rating. I could go on, but these are the biggies.
3.) These are old units. So the battery, which has a 5 year shelf life, is probably going to be near expiration. Not a BIG problem, because Overtons includes a free battery certificate from the importer (Revere). For the cost of postage, Revere will send you a free battery as they expire, every 5 years, for life. Mine expired about 6 months after I got it (label on the case has date). I sent in and got a new battery (and a new friend, as "Roy" called and gave me the low-down on battery replacement).
So why do I recommend these? Well, ACR is the current top-of-the-line MFR, now into their 2nd (really 2 1/2 nd) generation, more compact, with much better GPS receivers, etc. But this old war-horse is the unit the Coast Guard chose some years ago when this system first went on-line, it still works, you get "free" batteries for life, and the PRICE IS RIGHT.
BUT MOST IMPORTANT - it is a "back-up" unit for me. I have a SPOT satellite messenger - which I highly recommend. It can send emails or text msgs to your friends indicating your exact location, and saying you are OK, need help, or are in an emergency - in the latter case also calling for search and rescue just like the McMurdo PLB. There are places on the earth that the SPOT won't work (though coverage has improved dramatically in the last year). The SPOT needs a better sky view than a PLB to get out a signal. The SPOT has a yearly subscription fee, not so the PLB. ETC. So, I carry the SPOT for casual travel, to signal friends where I am, and for help or emergencies when out of cell coverage. And if I'm going seriously into nowhere, the PLB comes along too. It has only one function - calling search and rescue - but it is a COMPLETE backup, end-to-end, for this function. That is, it uses different frequencies, different satellites, and a different monitoring and dispatching network.
So, for the man who keeps his pants up with a belt, and suspenders too, but is still on a budget, this old McMurdo unit makes sense as a backup to the much more fun and useful SPOT. And, if you are on a REAL budget and don't want the bells, whistles and annual subscription cost of the SPOT, but still think that a slow rescue sounds a lot better than no rescue, then the McMurdo can still save your a$$ for half or less the $$ of a shiny new PLB from ACR.

LG 47LH85 47-Inch 1080p 120 Hz Wireless HDMI LCD HDTV, Black
Average Reviews:

Seeing that this is a relatively new product, with no prior reviews, and the first to offer wireless image technology, I was a bit hesitant at first. However, with the great specs and competitive price, I decided to go for this model. I couldn't be happier.
I am not a tech wizard by any means, but I know quality when I see it. And this has it all. The image is superb!! Hi-Def cable & Blu-Ray discs look fantastic. Let me emphasize that there is absolutely NO image degradation whatsoever due to the wireless capability. I would suggest keeping the "media box" (which transmits the wireless audio/video to the screen) outside or on top of any cabinet, and placed as close as possible to the screen. Even though I originally placed my media box on the second shelf of my cabinet, with only a glass shelf above it, I still experienced a loss of signal strength, which was pretty much unnoticeable aside from a few flickers every now and then. I moved the box to the top of the cabinet, and I now have very good to excellent signal strength (LG recommends keeping the signal strength at very good to excellent (four to five bars).
This product seems too good to be true (again, for those not willing to hire an electrician to cut holes in the wall and rewire your electrical and components through your walls), but I couldn't be happier.
In terms of appearance, it looks great, with a semi-tranparent plastic frame around the screen.
Item was shipped via Pilot, and they were courteous and professional, and even helped to open the package to ensure there was not damage (since one end of the box seemed a bit crushed).
I just set up this TV two days ago, so I will come back and make updates to this review as needed.

325ULT UHF Wireless Microphone Package with 2 Lavaliere Mics Review

325ULT UHF Wireless Microphone Package with 2 Lavaliere Mics
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I started using these last Summer to record live classes on location in a building not equipped for video, and they have worked quite well.
The sound quality is great, operation is easy, and connection options included with the kit are nice - both 1/8 inch cables and adapters to professional XLR inputs. I use them with Canon H1-AH cameras, and they work very well.
The battery powered receiver mounts in the camera (or other) hotshoe, and while not large or intrusive, it is still easy to see the display.
There are many features I have yet to explore, such as frequency agility, but from what I have seen so far, these mics are a solid investment in good sound.
Spendy, but worth it, in my opinion.

Canon EOS 1Ds Mark II 16.7MP Digital SLR Camera (Body Only) Review

Canon EOS 1Ds Mark II 16.7MP Digital SLR Camera (Body Only)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this camera after using the Canon EOS 10D for commercial photography, and I'm really impressed by its performance. If I were to list the top things I like about it, I would say:
- Resolution. The camera (almost) produces A3 @ 300dpi images. That satisfies most advertising needs.
- Wide Dynamic Range. The color tones and wide color gamut help produce amazing images in all color spaces.
- Speed. (1)Startup speed is wonderful, I set the energy saver to shutdown the camera after 1 min of inactivity and it starts up immediately after a lightly touching the shutter release button. (2)The other thing is the 4 fps; I thought it would be too slow for sports, but it's not. (3)Last but not least, AF speed, it's almost instantaneous.
- Built like a tank. The camera's weather seals are also very important to me. I live in a desert environment, so it gets very dusty especially when doing outdoors photography. Of course changing lenses outdoors for me is risky since it's a chance for dust to get into the chamber and then onto the sensor, So be careful.
- Full Frame. The experience of the lenses brings you back to film cameras. The 10D had a x1.6 crop factor (17mm is actually 27.2mm), but with the 1Ds Mark II 17mm is 17mm and that made me utilize the lenses I had better.
I hope I was able to convey some of the joy I'm having with it.. The only bad thing I find in this camera is its price.. But with all things considered, I think it has the value for it.

An update to the tremendously popular EOS-1Ds, the EOS-1Ds Mark II is a must have for those seeking to capture huge, beautiful images, fast. With a full frame 16.7 megapixel CMOS image sensor, combined with Canon s DIGIC II Image Processor, the EOS-1Ds Mark II captures up to 32 consecutive shots at speeds up to 4 frames-per-second, and has dramatically decreased startup and card-writing times in comparison to the EOS-1Ds. These improvements are complemented by Canon s renowned build quality for reliability in even the most rugged conditions. Compatibility with over 50 EF Lenses, in addition to the entire line of EOS accessories, including the new Wireless File Transmitter WFT-E1 accessory easily makes the EOS-1Ds Mark II the most remarkable combination of resolution and speed in the history of digital SLRs.

Magellan Maestro 4350 4.3-Inch Portable GPS Navigator with Bluetooth and Integrated Traffic
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
As this is a lengthy review, those not wanting to wade through the entire text can find a summary under the 'Conclusions' heading.
Test Conditions:
All tests were conducted in the Northeast U.S. Although I don't own another portable GPS, I do have a factory installed navigation unit in my 2006 Audi which I've utilized for several side-by-side comparisons (the Magellan is actually for my wife's car).
Updates to the 4350's operating system and navigational firmware are available at no-cost from Magellan's website. These significantly improve the functionality and stability of the unit and if you own one you'd be making a mistake not to install them. The procedure is made relativity easy by the CD based instruction manual that comes with the unit. It took me about fifteen minutes to bring my unit up to date and in a month of testing since, it has never crashed, frozen, or seriously misbehaved. All findings posted here are based on a unit updated to the following: OS Version 00.42.01.0919 and Navigation Version 8.3.2.64084. As the 4350's were just released in September 2008 there are no map updates available or required. Startup:
If powered by an ignition controlled power source the 4350 turns on/off with the car. Otherwise pressing the power button for about two seconds turns it on.
Acquiring satellites happens very quickly - we're talking seconds, not minutes. Only once, inside my house during a very heavy snowstorm, did it take longer (about two minutes) to lock. Display Screen:
The display is plenty bright and the touch screen feature is very sensitive (sometimes too much so). An optional power-saver feature dims the screen somewhat between turns when using the built-in battery. I found this very useful as besides saving the battery it tends to catch your eye when it 'wakes up' to normal brightness. Since that happens about five seconds before the first spoken notification regarding the next turn it gives you a visual heads-up that a verbal instruction is imminent (so if you happen to be blaring Hendrix on the car stereo you have time to lower the volume a bit). Touching any part of the screen will also restore it to full brightness.
The menu system is well organized and intuitive. There are a few things I'd change but overall it's very good.Audio Quality and the MP3/Photo/Video Player:
The audio is loud and clear even with the volume all the way up, which was never necessary for me. There's a male or female voice option for each available language (English, Spanish, and French).
Like most units in this price range the 4350 announces the actual street names along with the turning instructions. The pronunciations are occasionally off but they get the point across. One odd thing was although the male voice pronounced 'county' properly the female would say 'count'. I.E... "In one quarter mile turn right onto count route 513".
The built-in MP3 player and the photo viewer are nice enough and get the job done. The video player only handles Xvid .avi files, which limits its usefulness, but I believe this is the only GPS to have a video player so you probably can't do better elsewhere.
Now to one of the two big gripes I have with this unit...
There's no headphone/line-out jack! What good is an MP3 player without one??? This restricts you to listening through the single (mono) speaker or using the FM transmitter to send the signal to your car stereo (more on that later). POI's (Points of Interest) and AAA:
Magellan claims 6 million POI's reside in the 4350's database (my Audi only has about 1.7 million). Locating one couldn't be easier. You can search by name, category, and/or area. In addition to this is a listing of all facilities reviewed by the AAA, complete with descriptions, ratings and member discounts. AAA members also get an additional year of warranty coverage and one-button access to local certified garages. Although it's not mentioned in the rather sparse instruction manual, you can import your own POI's as Google .kml or .kmz files. To do this you'll need Magellan's 'Content Manager', a free download, which if you updated your firmware you'll already have. Route Selection:
Planning a route is extremely easy, as is adding interim stops (something you still can't do with many GPS models). The keyboard can be configured as QWERTY or ABC and it gray's out irrelevant letters as you type - a nice feature.
Once you've selected your destination the 4350 calculates four possible routes: Fastest, Shortest, Most Economical, and Simplest. The fastest route is chosen by default but you can examine the relative times and distances or see the routes compared visually on the map before selecting the best one for you. Some or all of these routes may be the same as multiple criteria are often met by the same route. I found the [post-upgrade] route selections to be very good, certainly on a par with my Audi's unit.
A 'One-Touch' menu allows you to store your favorite destinations as icons on a single menu. 'Home', 'Previous', 'SOS' (emergency), and AAA 'Service' icons are there by default. You can add five of your own which can point to specific addresses or POI lists. I.E... A list of all Starbucks in the current area.
Finally, being a portable device you can select your type of 'vehicle' from: Car, Bus, Emergency, Bicycle, or Pedestrian. In another undocumented feature, when switching to pedestrian mode you'll be asked if you'd like the unit to remember your car's location. Garmin makes a big deal of this feature; you'd think Magellan would at least mention they have it too. Go figure...Guidance - On the Road:
On the road is where this unit really shines. The 4.3" screen packs in a surprising amount of map detail without looking cluttered. Maps can be displayed in 2D or 3D (I prefer the 3D view which my Audi doesn't have). Landmark buildings can also rise from the map in three dimensions but in my rural area I've yet to see this in action. Information regarding the next turn is displayed across the top of the screen and I especially like how the names of cross streets appear as I approach them, then disappear. You can select which POI categories appear on the map - I chose restaurants and gas stations. Unlike some other units this feature works in 2D or 3D mode. For major chains (BP, McDonalds, Dunkin Donuts, etc) the generic symbols are replaced by the company logos, allowing you to see at a glance what type of establishment is coming up.
An optional warning displays the speed limit on the left side of the map when you approach or exceed it by a percentage you preset from 70 to 130%. You can also set an audible alert for this if you wish (I have a wife who performs that function). Although I don't consider this an important feature, those who do should know that in my area it only worked on the interstates.
A new feature called 'Lane Guidance' is one of the primary reasons I choose this unit over the Garmin 760. At complicated interstate exits it displays a visual representation of the overhead highway signs to show you which lane you need to be in for an upcoming maneuver. The Garmin models with a similar feature called 'Lane Assist' are far more expensive. The only other GPS to offer lane guidance near this price range is Navigon's 7200T but its POI database is small and its search features are reportedly poor.
The verbal directions are extremely clear and precise. It always beat my Audi in giving me a heads-up regarding the next turn and was usually more specific as to what I needed to do.
Besides the detailed spoken instructions the 4350 also produces a 'doorbell like' chime at the point you should be turning. It even chimes differently for left, right, and U turns. This is a feature that several prior Magellan owners have mentioned missing after switching to another brand. For some reason Magellan initially omitted it from this model but the firmware update restores it along with another enhancement that tells you which side of the street your destination is on.
Lastly, recalculations (required if you go off the designated route) were very fast, taking about the same amount of time as my Audi's unit and often producing a better result. Bluetooth, FM Transmitter, and Traffic Info:
At first the 4350 refused to find my Blackberry Curve but after doing a hard reset (as suggested by Magellan's website) the units paired right up. Bluetooth connectivity has been fine since then but all is not well... When making/receiving a hands-free call I found the audio on my end to be satisfactory but I had to shout at a distance of two feet from the unit in order to be heard faintly at the other end. In actuality I had to speak 1 to 3 inches from the built-in microphone in order to be heard properly. Compounding this issue is the fact that there's no external microphone jack like on some other brands. This was the most disappointing aspect of this test. Even though I don't use this feature, some of the people I gave these to might want to. Therefore if you need Bluetooth capability I must recommend you look elsewhere.
In my initial review I stated that the FM transmitter (which sends all sound from the 4350 to the car's audio system) worked like a charm in my Audi but didn't perform so well in my wife's Sable Wagon. I attributed this to the Sable's rear mounted antenna and the fact that the U.S. severely limits the transmitter strength of these units. However, further tests have resulted in excellent results with both cars. One thing I did notice is that the DC power cord seems to act like an antenna so if you're having reception problems plug the power cord into the 4350 (this seems to work even if you...Read more›

POCKET WIZARD MULTIMAX 32 CHANNEL TRANCEIVER Review

POCKET WIZARD MULTIMAX 32 CHANNEL TRANCEIVER
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If what your looking for is rear curtain sync, you don't need all mulimax transceivers. However if you are looking to have separate zones of flashes you do need to have the mulitmax, or equivalent 32 channel receiver. The zone function only works on channels 17-32, and the plus only has channels 1-4.
With that in mind this is the definition of reliability, and for many applications just having the extra channels will be worth the extra hundred bucks. For example at major sporting events where every photographer seems to be using those first four channels you will still be able to have your flash go off only when you want it too.
Using zones has some extra uses too. I use it in my studio to set up 3 completely different lighting scenes (background white, background black, and third with some light spill onto the background) set my camera to bracket (3) and then with each shot get 3 completely different pictures. Saves me lots of time and I don't have to tell the model "that looked great, now try to do exactly the same thing after I spend 5 minutes fiddling with the lights...."
Now if you have no idea what I am talking about, then maybe this isn't the device for you. And that is not a problem! But there is no reason to pay this money if you are not sure that you are going to use its features.

NADY 151VR-LT Professional Wireless Lavaliere Microphone Systems for Camcorders (NADY 151VRLT) Review

NADY 151VR-LT Professional Wireless Lavaliere Microphone Systems for Camcorders (NADY 151VRLT)

I really wanted this budget buy to work for my limited videography needs. After 1 hour of testing every component (mic, transmitter, receiver, batteries, levels), I determined that the lavalier mic and also the transmitter each did not work at all. If everything worked as promised, I would have overlooked the very cheap feel of each unit (They seemed to be totally hollow). I can't recommend this product.
