Sanyo NVM-4070 "Easy Street" Portable Navigation System, Piano Black
We have had this item now for almost a month. It is feature rich, and the features really work. The special features of note are:
- blue tooth
- fm transmitter
- plays mp3, wav, wma files (but not wma with DRM security)
- real time traffic updates with automatic or manual re-routing
It is very fast, re-routes quickly without announcing, "off route." You can generate route alternates by clicking three buttons from the map view for an alternate route. Address selection is easy. Creating Via's is easy.
You can switch between functions relatively easily - there is a menu button. From there you can open other functions each with a soft menu button on the screen. Yes, you can control the music while you navigate, and it will lower the volume to give you directions. It will not give audio directions if you are in a phone call but the onscreen navigation will continue. Some features are mutually exclusive, but you can navigate and call, or navigate and listen to music easily. It does not include access to the book services, and my library offers free book downloads with DRM - the unit does not support DRM security.
Car FM transmitters are touchy, but the FM transmitter works fairly well. If you are not familiar, the idea is that the GPS transmits to you car radio so that you can hear the music, navigation, and phone through your car radio. In my Prius, it works best when mounted directly over the radio. It easily allows you to select the frequency to use, but it some frequencies work much better than others.
The Blue tooth imported my phone book - it does not do voice dialing, but has lists of recent numbers called. Once uploaded, the phone book (contacts) is easy to navigate. The blue tooth recognizes the phone, and automatically links - unless your phone is already actively linked with another device - you must then intercede to disconnect one and reconnect the other. The blue tooth set up was a bit touchy to start, but once set up it worked well. It can store configurations for several phones, and will identify on the screen which connection is active. (it can connect to only one phone at a time but if you have more than one phone, it will store the setup for each).
We just started using the Navteq realtime direction service. You can see the routes covered at http://www.navteq.com/rdstraffic/index.html
I have not yet determined the threshold for when it will reroute you - but it does put up a message that the route is being changed because of traffic conditions, and you can view the traffic alerts. It comes with a 90 day free trial and I have not yet determined the actual cost.
It is head and shoulders above the Garmin iQue 3600 we have used till now, but there are a few things the much older Garmin did better.
The Garmin POI's are more expansive, but the Sanyo shows rest areas. I miss the ability to view POI's along my route - a selection option in the Garmin. But the Sanyo with Blue tooth, does something really nice - while viewing the POI - you can touch a button to call the POI. (I suspect that the issues reported here are common to all newer GPS units).
The Garmin had a very nice interactive - real time - turn by turn display - the Sanyo shows the waypoints, but it is less clear.
I found that it is easier to use if I use a pencil eraser to navigate the screen.
It is easy to move the map display by touching the edge of the screen to change the center of the map. It is a bit touchy about zooming out and in.
The mounting kit attaches to the windshield easily and comes down easily. (Garmin used a bean bag to anchor on the dash - I had liked that a lot.)

I bought this thing a while back - it worked for a short time, then worked intermittently, now it doesn't work at all. Useless. And the price is outrageous, now that there are so many alternatives (there weren't when I bought it).
Do NOT buy this thing.

Until I found Niles, changing tv channels in bed was a problem. The cable box was below my site line, so I had to hold the remote in the air and wave it. We also have audio/video equipment in cabinets in our living room. The Niles system allows you to point at a small and unobtrusive receiver which relays your signals to multiple devices. It does make life much easier.

Sony HTSF470 Blu-ray Disc Matching Surround Sound Home Theater System (Black) Review

Sony HTSF470 Blu-ray Disc Matching Surround Sound Home Theater System (Black)
Average Reviews:

Great sound.
Great 5.1 functionality.
Great value.
I have mine teamed with a 46" Samsung C6300 LED LCD and a Sony Playstation 3. I love the fact that I'm down to one HDMI input feeding my new TV for all input sources. . .they all go through the Sony HT-SF470.
Complaints: When I bought the product, I assumed that the rear speakers would work wirelessly without an additional purpose. Note, that to use the S-AIR functionality with this product, one needs to buy a transmitter to plug into the HT-SF470 receiver and a receiver for your powered speakers that get served. I also agree with the previous reviewer about how the system lacks a graphical menu. Finally, and perhaps most needlessly frustrating, I hate that Sony doesn't leave you enough wire for their rear speakers. There's nothing worse that to give up on an optimal setup because you don't have enough wire. Also, Sony uses speaker wire with proprietary connectors(more costly and hard to find upgrades).
Still a good value for the price. . .beware that they attempt to suck you in to future purchases by giving you a nearly complete system.

Wireless Lapel & Headset Microphone Black, Eu03 Review

Wireless Lapel and Headset Microphone Black, Eu03
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm having to revise my initial review as I received two of these kits and both let me down. The first one stopped working after 30mins, so I ordered a replacement. The second unit was DOA. The mic and headset are salvageable, but the wireless components (transmitter and receiver) are not. What a waste of money.
If you are lucky enough to get a working unit it will work out of the box, but having had 2 units and 100% failure rate I'm staying away.
The kit comes in it's own carry case, so it's very portable. It's made in China, the workmanship reflects that. It's not shoddy, ( though the receiver jack is sitting at a slightly off-center angle! ) but it won't stand up to "excessive wear and tear".
Two things worth mentioning:
The lapel clip does not swivel and removing the wire to turn the clip around could damage the wire as it's in quite tight.
The headset is for left ear only as the mic only moves in one direction. (I prefer the ear pad sitting on my right ear, but I can live with it on my left!)
Kit includes:
Receiver with audio jack adapter
Transmitter (with belt clip)
Single ear/mic headset
Lavalier/lapel mic with clip
1 x AAA and 1 x 9V Battery
Carry case

Philips HDD1630 6 GB MP3 Player Review

Philips HDD1630 6 GB MP3 Player
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have been using this little mp3 player now for a while and I feel I can give it an accurate assessment. I'm going to compare it with the ever popular Ipod Nano just in case you find yourself like I did, stuck between two heavyweight champs.
-Appearance: I found myself taken right away with the gogear. It's about the same height of the nano but definitely thicker. The entire player is a reflective midnight black with silver plating on the sides. It fits nicely in the hand and looks stunning. It shows fingerprints, but those wipe away easily. It doesn't seem to scratch too easily, unlike its opponent which scratches at the lightest of touches. I knew someone that kept his nano in a cloth case and it still found a way to show scratches. Albeit, the Ipod nano is incredibly small and aesthetically pleasing, but the darn thing just can't take its punches. The screen is prone to cracking and I've never seen an Ipod nano that didn't have a million battle scars on it. Which one you like better is a personal choice, but in my books, this round goes to the GoGear if only because it doesn't scratch so easily.
-Functionality, Playback and Features: Let me start by saying duh! Who would buy an mp3 player that only has a capacity of 2gb when they could get a different one at the same price that has 6gb of storage. I call this a nobrainer but whatever floats your boat. You could shell out an extra 50 to get the superior nano, but it still falls short of the GoGear by 2gb. The GoGear is extremely straightforward in its design. My computer had no trouble detecting it. I quickly and easily synched my music library to the GoGear using Windows Media Player. The main menu has 5 options to chose from: music, radio, pictures, recordings and settings. Everything is pretty easy to find. The touch navigation is pretty good. I sometimes have a problem with it going two clicks instead of one, but that's a small annoyance. The playback on this player is good. It has a couple of different equalizer settings to chose from. Hip Hop is my personal favorite. It has dedicated volume, power and menu buttons on the side. I do wish there was a button that took you directly back to the main menu. As it is designed, you kinda have to backtrack through to find the main menu. Again, this isn't really a big deal. One thing I really do like about this player is the fact that it has an Am/Fm tuner. The nano lacks this in its feature set, and it is sorely missed. The navigation on the GoGear is pretty comparable to the nano, though I feel the GoGear is a little more easy to navigate in. Again this is a personal choice, but I feel the GoGear won this round as well. My main complaint with the nano is that it doesn't have a radio tuner. Who dropped the ball on that one?
-Battery Life: I haven't had enough experience with the Nano to really declare one better than the other, but I'll tell you what I know. The battery on the Philips seems to last a while. I would call its 17 hour rating a pretty accurate statement, give or take a little bit. I do know that the Nano is infamous for its suspectable battery life. Most users complain that it just doesn't have the endurance to make it through the day. I'm going to call this round a draw because of the simple fact that I just don't have enough experience with the Nano. Though from other reviews, I would say the GoGear has again bested the Nano.
-What I didn't like about the GoGear: My main complaints about the GoGear were about the accessories. The rubber case that comes with it is more like a rubber sleeve that outlines the edges. It does nothing to protect the front of the player, but I guess Philips didn't have to supply a case at all. I also couldn't stand the headphones supplied with it. They just wouldn't fit comfortably in my ear. Again though, Philips didn't have to supply earphones at all, so I guess I shouldn't complain. These are minor complaints and they don't impact my music experience with the GoGear.
-The Verdict: In the end, the GoGear is the clear winner. It looks good, it works and plays well, and it has 6gb of storage 6gb as opposed to 2gb the equally priced nano gives you. This amounts to about a 1000 more songs, more or less. There are only two reason why anyone would chose the nano over the GoGear: 1) they are ill-informed consumers that just wanted to buy the popular mp3 player instead of researching the issue or 2) they just really couldn't get over the size of the nano. The Nano may win on the coolness factor by a slight margin, but it just can't compete with the features of the GoGear. Do yourself a favor, and put your money on the ultra sleek GoGear.

Opteka Wireless Radio Remote Release for Nikon D300, D200, D100, D2X, D2XS, D3 Digital SLR Cameras Review

Opteka Wireless Radio Remote Release for Nikon D300, D200, D100, D2X, D2XS, D3 Digital SLR Cameras

I purchased this to use with my D300. It came in a basic no thrills box and came with the batteries. It has worked fine. I went on a three day workshop and used it every day all throughout the day. When I used it all day I left it on the camera the entire time and screwed it into the plug - when in my home studio I just plug it in without screwing it down, it stays on just fine. Overall I probably shot about 1000 pictures with it and it seems to be going fine. If I ever get to the point of convincing myself to put a piece of velcro on my camera, then I will secure it to the camera with a piece of velcro; I'm afraid that it dangling and swinging will eventually put stress on the wires and break them, but so far so good and still velcro free. There are some visible dip switches on the remote, but I didn't buy it for its look, I bought because of the good price. The switches enable you to change the frequency if needed.

SoundGate ZNCBLPAK lets you Connect, Charge, and Play your ZUNE thru your Car Stereo or Radio's AUX 3.5mm Jack. Review

SoundGate ZNCBLPAK lets you Connect, Charge, and Play your ZUNE thru your Car Stereo or Radio's AUX 3.5mm Jack.
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
A few years back when I bought a car stereo for my 1998 Nissan Frontier (King Cab) I made sure to get one that could accommodate a CD changer. I did this because I knew if it could accommodate a CD changer it would either have RCA In ports or somewhere on the net I would be able to get an after market adapter to accommodate my needs (as it turned out my stereo just came with the RCA In ports). For years I was happy rollin' along with an iPod until the Zune came out. The only problem was now there was no way to connect the Zune into my car stereo RCA In ports without using the 1/8" (3.5 mm) headphone jack at the top of the Zune. As you may or may not be aware when you connect a device this way (Zune, iPod or any other MP3 player) you have to crank up the volume on the MP3 player to the max, then use the volume on your radio to adjust to a comfortable level (very sloppy). Then if you are on a long trip (who can afford the gas anymore) you have to plug a car charger into the bottom of the Zune to keep it charged. This is way too many cables for me and creates a lot of clutter and chaos. Then BAM! along comes Soundgate's ZNCBLPAK Core(tm) Cable Pack for the Zune. It took a lot of searching on message boards to find this little gem (God bless the internet) but it has been the solution to all of my problems. By connecting the unit (see product manual here http://soundgate.com/upload//productdocuments/0606.pdf) directly into my stereo the volume from the Zune is now line leveled and I only have to adjust it at one source (the car stereo). To solve the cord clutter and chaos problem I had someone wire the Discrete Power Harness (included) directly into a power source in my truck. You could opt to use the Cigarette-Lighter Power Adapter (also included) but I prefer to be a bit more organized by having it wired to a dedicated power source. I do notice when I plug the Zune in this way it picks up a little more noise. If the volume is up loud on the car stereo you can hear the drive spin up in the Zune before the music kicks in. You can get something called a ground loop isolator to correct the issue but for me it doesn't bother me enough to worry about it. You never hear it once the music kicks in anyway. The Soundgate ZNCBLPAK Core(tm) Cable Pack for the Zune also comes with a 1/8" (3.5mm) stereo mini-jack cable (because not all car stereos come with RCA In ports). I do not know if you get the same volume line leveling benefit if you connect your Zune this way. Perhaps another review will let us know. Additionally I do not have a video device to connect to so I cannot comment on that aspect of the unit either. I would highly recommend two products if you have a Zune. 1- Speck Dragon Toughskin Rubberized Case for Zune 80 GB (http://www.amazon.com/Speck-Dragon-Toughskin-Rubberized-Black/dp/B0014BQW4M/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1216488444&sr=8-1) (I also did a review for this). 2-Flex PED (http://thoughtout.biz/FlexPED) this device can adjust to fit any MP3 player. I have also heard they will be coming out with a Soundgate REMCORE Wired Zune(tm) Remote Control soon (see more info here http://www.logjamelectronics.com/soundremcore.html) that will connect directly to the Soundgate ZNCBLPAK Core(tm) Cable Pack for the Zune. Now that I have done your homework, all you have to do is pull the trigger. What are you waiting for?

I bought one of theses hoping to add the ability to listen to my mp3 player on my older clarion stereo, Well it does work but I have to crank up the volume on the mp3 player almost all of the way and also crank the stereo up very high and even after messing with various EQ settings the sound is horrible, Ear splitting highs and no lows at all.
I almost blew my out speakers and had a heart attack since I had forgotten the stereo was turned up almost all of the way when I switched the source to cd.
Nice.

UR1 by Shure Review

UR1 by Shure
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Note - the power output specs show 1050 mw or 10100 mw - some unusual numbers indeed. The actual power output of this bodypack transmitter is 10 to 50 mw or 10 to 100 mw depending on region (frequency band), not 1050 or 10100 mw. Someone forgot the dash.
The shure UHF-R system is a good microphone system, but the new sennheiser G3 (if you can find them) mics are proving to be packed with more features than the sure unit. For example, while both have LCD displays, the Sennheiser is easier to read and also gives a modulation meter and clipping led on the front panel of the belt pack. You can also program the sennheiser to display it's programmable name, group/channel, or frequency, and of course lockout changes to prevent fingerpoken by the end user.
I am gradually moving away from the SHURE UHF-R system to the Sennheiser G3 system due to improved dynamic range, better companding and better diversity receiver, and overall ease of use with the custom display. Mic checks are just a bit easier with the G3, even though I love the flexibility of the shure UHF-R system.

Apple Nike + iPod Sport Kit for iPod nano 1G, 2G (Old Version) Review

Apple Nike + iPod Sport Kit for iPod nano 1G, 2G (Old Version)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First Impressions: The kit is very small and lightweight. Setup is trivial, although I would recommend calibrating the unit. The voices are nice, and it decreases the music volume during announcements to keep a constant listening volume. My main reasonable complaint is that you need to see the screen when starting/stopping. This sounds obvious, but the nike armband (only one available at that time which holds the nano with the nike receiver connected) does not allow you to see the screen. The first problem I encountered was; after changing in the locker room I set the screen where I only had to press the center button to start my workout (no screen necessary for that!). But my the time I stuck it back in the armband, left the locker room, got some water and left the building, it automatically went back to the main Nike+ menu so I had to remove the nano again and go through it again _right_ before starting my run. Along these lines, if you do not memorize how to end your workout with the menu (multiple button presses and menu movements) or don't take the nano out of your armband at the end of the workout to manipulate the menu, it is possible to "end" a run without the run actually being recorded as a run (e.g. after my second run, the total mileage had increased by almost 5 miles, but the "previous run" menu still only showed my prior day run and when connected to my computer, no new run was uploaded).
Note: To remedy this, I now just pause my workout when I'm through and wait for the system to automatically end it for me!
Shoe pod: I do not wear Nike running shoes but I have high arches. I am able to stick the pod underneath my insole just at the bottom of my arch and it doesn't bother me while I run. Also, make sure the pod is flat in your shoe and oriented with the long axis along the length of your shoe. If it isn't snug and oriented properly, your distance will be really off (my first run of 42 minutes was "2.05 miles"). I have more recently cut a recess in my insole right at the base of the arch and now I don't even feel it. Again, be careful and please don't cut into the bottom of your shoe, remember it should be snug because you don't want it sloshing around while you run.
Calibration: People have reported good calibration out of the box, but mine was off. After a couple of weeks I calibrated the system 4 times around lane 1 of a 400-meter track (1 mile) and a course that had previously been 4.76 and 4.69 miles turned into 5.54 miles (much closer to what my map was telling me).
Accuracy: After running for months with it, this unit is much more accurate than I expected. When my GPS works, there's nothing better, but it's very inconsistent in a cloudy city like Pittsburgh. I really like the consistency of this unit. You should be aware that even after calibration, the unit will show longer distances when you run faster, but since most distance runners are fairly consistent during most training runs, this isn't a huge issue. As long as the shoe pod is snug and it's been calibrated, I get better than 95% accuracy, even on hilly courses (better on flats). You probably wouldn't want to use this to determine your 10k race time, but it's wonderful for normal training.
Pros:
1. Very motivational!
2. Works fine out of the box and easily [...].
3. Distance isn't dependent on clear skies and barren land like a GPS (i.e. works fine in downtown areas as well as tree covered trails and cloudy/rainy days).
4. Don't _need_ nike shoes to make it work well.
5. It allows you to "experiment" more on runs, because now you can say "hey I wonder where that leads" and not have to worry about wondering how far you actually ran.
6. Decreases music volume while it tells you your run statistics.
Cons:
1. You almost _need_ to see the screen to work the start and end workout menus. It is possible by touch, but sometimes when your fingers are sweaty the thumb wheel doesn't move as precisely as one would like. It is sort of strange that the only armbands designed to integrate the nike receiver (the nikeplus armbands) don't actually allow you to see the screen, even though it's necessary to use the nikeplus features!
2. No Auto-Pause feature: The entire purpose of this thing is to track your speed and time. You would think that you could set it to pause the time when you stopped moving! I completely don't understand why that is not an option.
3. The pause function needs to be longer. If you pause your workout for more than a few minutes it will automatically end your workout. I am not sure if this has anything to do with the auto-off/sleep function of the Nano, but I have found no settings to control this, after 4-5 minutes it will automatically end your workout.
4. The information announcements could be a little shorter. It's fine, but there should be a "short announcement" option that leaves out "completed", "current pace" and "distance" which is all pretty obvious.
[...].
Final thoughts: This is a great little addition for runners. It actually convinced me to upgrade to a Nano (from a Shuffle) and I can't say I'm disappointed. Although there are improvements I would like to see, I think this is a great offering that many runners would thoroughly enjoy and utilize to help them achieve their running goals. I'm also glad to see Nike is continuing to upgrade the web interface and software features of this device! Keep up the good work!

SOMMER Direct Drive Garage Door Opener 3/4 HP Review

SOMMER Direct Drive Garage Door Opener 3/4 HP
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When my old Craftsman chain-drive garage door opener refused to adjust and tore the pulley off of its motor, I searched for something better while shopping online. I found the Sommer 3/4 hp direct-drive garage door opener. I like the new efficient design with very few moving parts. I was a bit skeptical because it's new to the USA (#1 in Europe) and there weren't many reviews of the product, though most reviews were very positive. Once set up, the opener is very quiet and gentle. It is now hard to hear the garage door opening. 2 remotes are included, as well as a wall station control. An outdoor keypad is optional. Installation took a bit longer than stated. The instructions are a bit lacking. Drawings show 2 sections of the C-rail (track) with the lettered stops facing each other on either side of the junction piece of the C-rail. Nowhere does it specifically say to slide the carriage (motor) onto the C-rail between the stops. Not hard to figure out but instructions should be clear. One drawing shows the J-arm piece with the single hole closest to the motor. The very next drawing shows just the opposite. You can watch an installation video on the company's website where it says the track comes preassembled. It does not. It ships in 2 packages, which UPS delivered on 2 different days. One package contains the track, the other has the motor, hardware, and controls. A pair of sturdy right-angle brackets for hanging the track would have been a welcome addition to the installation kit instead of the flimsy flat brackets included. The skinny remote control looks like it should slide over the buttons for opening the door to avoid activating the door while in a pocket. Overall, I am satisfied with it now that it is up. We'll see how it holds up this winter when the frost causes the concrete to heave in the garage. It is reassuring to know that everything is guaranteed for life. The Sommer opener costs about $100 more than a conventional belt, chain, or screw drive opener on sale, but looks like it is built to last.

Adorama Wireless Radio Remote Release for Nikon D200/D2X/D100 Digital Cameras Review

Maybe it's just me, but I have to say for $100.00 (price I paid for it), I found this product to be quite weak and disappointing.
I had a heck of a time getting it to work, half of the time the receiver wouldn't pick up the signal and I was just a few feet away. I fiddled with it for quite some time and it was bad enough that I became quite frustrated with it and rarely if ever use it anymore. I became frustrated as I would setup the shot, get all ready, and half the time the remote didn't work.
You have to make sure you turn it off, there is no sleep or timeout mode, else the next time you want to use it, the battery is dead. Takes one of these batteries: Duracell Ultra Lithium Battery 3V, CR2 , 2 batteries.
The construction is lower grade plastic and feels like a $19.00 product instead of a $100.00 product. Even the carrying case is low quality for that price. Every time I would plug it in the 10-pin connector I was worried I would bend the pins or screw up the connector due to "fragility" of the remote.
I have this remote also: NIKON MC-36 Multi-Function Remote Cord ( 33.5 inches ) - granted it's not wireless and I get why one would want wireless, that's why I bought this product, but if you compare the two remotes from what you get for the price, this remote falls way short. Instead of using this wireless remote to take self portraits, I now program in interval timed shots in the MC-36 and I can get exactly what I want and never be frustrated with the remote.
I am sorry, and maybe it's me and I am not smart enough to make this work, but I cannot recommend this product - but in my defense - a product like this, at this price, should be reliable and easy to use. My guess is if you drop $100.00 on it, you will be disappointed like me. Wireless technology is not that expensive these days so there is no justification for making something this "cheap" and charging a premium for it.

TomTom GO 2505TM 5-Inch Portable Bluetooth GPS Navigator with Lifetime Traffic & Maps Review

TomTom GO 2505TM 5-Inch Portable Bluetooth GPS Navigator with Lifetime Traffic and Maps

(More customer reviews)
I have been using TomTom Car Navigation products for several years now. This is my 4th unit. The last unit I possessed was the 'TomTom GO 740 Live'. So I was excited about the newest offering from this company. Having used this product for a few days, here's my 2 cents.. (please remember, this is being reviewed in relation to other TomTom products. I am not comparing this to units from other manufacturers)
The Good..
** This unit is sleeker and better looking than any of the previous models.
** The 5" screen makes a world of difference compared to the 4.3" inches on most other models. So if you can, opt for the 2505 and not the 2405.
** The screen is brighter than other models. Seems to hold well in bright sunlight.
** Very crisp and pleasing visuals. The text and graphics are sharper and more responsive.
** Extremely quick planning and re-planning of routes - that's the new Turbo Routing feature. Works pretty well.
** The car dock is very innovative. Sturdier and better mechanics. The magnetic process needs a little getting used to, especially when undocking.
** The automatic time zone setting for the Clock is a nice feature.
** Comes with Lifetime Map updates and Traffic.
The Bad...
** There is no docking station! You need to plug the USB cable manually for syncing/charging with the PC.
** For Traffic updates, the unit needs to be plugged into the car charger since the RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver is integrated into the car charging cable.
** No LIVE services. So if you need Google service or latest gas prices, you are out of luck.
** No memory card slot. So if you run over the 4GB limit, better start deleting stuff.
** No FM transmitter. No option to play voice through the the radio.
** No music player.
** No compass option.
** Comes preloaded with only 1 English 'Computer' voice - 'Stephanie'. No options to download Voices!! Seriously, TomTom??!! (Update: TomTom says more will be available soon. No timeline yet).

The Ugly..
** As others have documented, no customization is possible - yet. Cannot update/download Voices, POIs, Maps, Color Schemes etc. You live with what comes pre-loaded. No timeline on when options would be available.
And a couple of irritants:
** The 'next street name' that displays at the top right hand corner is too small to read relative to everything else on the screen.
** When making a phone call using the unit's bluetooth, the call status bar at the top blocks the 'next street name'. And you can't get rid of that status bar until you hang up. That's pretty dumb.
In short, this is not quite a step up from the 740 as I had expected. The focus here seems to have been on the style, not much on the substance. Having used this for a couple of weeks now, I've grown to like it. Extremely efficient and accurate. If you're looking for a product that can accurately and efficiently get you from Point A to Point B, this is the one for you.
This seems like a product that was rushed into the US market without the proper support structure behind it. This is the US version of the TomTom 'Go LIVE 1005' launched recently in Europe. The customer service reps know very little about this product. There are no User Manuals online yet. The PC sync to the web-based MyTomTom is an utter joke.
Bottom line, if I had to do it all over again, I'd stick with the 740 until TomTom gets its act together on this one.
